Power Launch: 5 Keys to a Wildly Successful Book Launch

Are you planning the release of your new book? Here are five key tips to create a wildly successful book launch.

Start Early

The most successful launches start LONG before books head off for print and distribution. As soon as you start writing your book, share your process with your social media network and invite them along for the journey. Make behind-the-scenes posts and keep them up to date with your challenges and triumphs.

Don’t let doubts hold you back– the vast majority of people want you to succeed. 81 percent of Americans want to write a book, but only 3 percent do. Including your audience from the very beginning doesn’t just drum up support for your book, it allows those who want to write a book to live through you.

Have a Content Plan

Have you planned out your pre-launch content? This content should go out eight to twelve weeks prior to your book’s release. Far from feeling like a commercial or afterthought, this content should add value and intrigue.

Think about your ideal reader. Why should they care that your book is being released? Be intentional and communicate that “why” in a heartfelt way.

Build a Launch Team

Who’s on your launch team? Your launch team will spread the word about your book to their personal networks. Reach out to your colleagues, friends, and supporters and make it easy for them to help by providing them with clear and intentional communication about how to promote the book.

But, this isn’t a one-way street! Show them how much you appreciate them throughout the process. The experience should be mutually beneficial for everyone involved. Like the old saying goes, many hands make light work (and widens the reach of positive ripples you put out into the world).

Cross Your T’s and Dot Your I’s

Putting together a wildly successful book launch isn’t all glamorous! Sometimes, you just have to buckle down and iron out the unsexy details– like metadata.

Metadata includes tasks like category selection, keywords, and your book description. All of these small little details MATTER. Don’t skimp on the research needed to have great metadata and be sure to have a compelling book description to draw people in.

The best part about this investment of time is it will support you in a bestseller campaign and will also help future readers find your book quickly and easily.

Celebrate!

Now for the fun part– celebrate! Launch day is ALL ABOUT celebration… from start to finish. Go into it with that mindset and not only will your book perform better, you’ll enjoy the process a heck of a lot more!

Create a party atmosphere by keeping your launch team and network updated throughout the day with new things to celebrate. This strategy creates energy, excitement, and the desire to help you get to the next level.

Think of your book’s release as its birthday. While there’s a lot of work still to do, for today, just celebrate its long-awaited arrival.
